When to replace spark plugs

Spark plugs wear with use, and as the gap widens the ignition coils have to work harder. Common signs are a rough idle, hesitation or misfire under load, hard starting and poorer fuel economy. Follow the service schedule in your Jimny's owner's manual for the replacement interval.

Before you fit them

• Match the NGK part number on the box to the plugs you are replacing or to your service manual.
• Replace all four together.
• Work on a cold engine and tighten to the torque in your service manual.
• Do not touch the centre electrode of iridium or platinum plugs. It is slender and can be damaged.
